Brian Clark (EPL B) v David Russell (EPL A) Cardiff GP Team Event
Tuesday 25th September 2007
David Pawsey has announced that EPL have officially declined the late invitation from FISTF to play in the forthcoming
Europa Cup.
Pawsey stated ''It was just too short notice to get a team together and the costs of flying to Greece 4 weeks before the tournament has also proved to be a major obstacle. This has caused some upset as EPL have played in the Europa Cup the past few seasons''
TSPA Whitestar have now been officially invited to take EPL's place in the tournament that takes place on October 26/27 in Athens, Greece.
This coming season I am looking for the club to build on the progress that we made last season. To be totally honest we over performed last season but I will be looking for us to carry on from where we left off last season. Since I took over the running of the club i have put the emphasis on trying to build a club that has the potential to grow season by season. We suffered a big loss when Steve Hawkins decided to leave for TSPA Whitestar at the end of last season. Thankfully he was the only player that left us. I have strengthened the club with 3 new players. Firstly I signed Steve Bennett from Tayside Kickers. He was last season's Scottish champion. He brings with him from Tayside Kickers Brian Clark. My 3rd signing is Cypriot Rob O'Hare. All 3 of these players fall into my criteria of players that can improve. We have a very good club ethic here at EPL and we also have a great club spirit. I will be looking for the new players to settle in quickly and then help us push forward again. My aim for this coming season is for us to establish ourselves as the 2nd best club in England.
English Premier League stalwart Dave Pawsey has been appointed England captain as from September 3. The EPL captain will combine the role with another post aimed at the development of future players. Dave replaces Phil Redman as skipper of the national side. The EPL would like to place on record its thanks to Phil for captaining the country in an exemplary fashion.
